Precor is the world’s premier maker of fitness equipment for both home and commercial fitness environments. 

You’ll find Precor equipment in leading health clubs, hotels, spas, corporate and university fitness centers and in homes worldwide. 

The company’s commitment to “fitness is foremost” and natural body movement in effective training design have made it an industry leader in ergonomic motion, body science and fitness engineering. 

Recent advances in its fitness equipment have included integrating custom fitness programming and interactive media into the Precor user experience.

Precor contracted IDEAS to assist in the development of a unique new user experience. This user experience needed to go beyond the workout and become an integral part of the user’s lifestyle. 

Expanding on its networked fitness solution, Preva, we’ve worked closely with Precor’s design and programming teams. Together, we’ve helped define a private content network for Precor users. 

The network incorporates personal, broadcast and subscription media channels with custom content. In sum, it will be the next-generation fitness experience and new industry standard.

IDEAS Gets to Work

First, we conducted a StoryJam™ workshop to envision the new user experience. We then completed an Experience Design Plan for Precor’s new Preva private network with a brand charter and robust programming catalog.

Next, we leveraged our client relationship with Grand Bahama Island Tourism to pilot a Preva training program on the island. 

This innovative solution gave Precor a wonderful location to shoot its initial private network programming. It also presented a great opportunity for Grand Bahama Island to promote some of its extraordinary offerings as a global travel destination.

The successful pilot program staged a series of workout challenges across memorable locations on Grand Bahama Island. 

These included its beautiful beaches, jubilant Count Basie Square and amazing Owl’s Hole. The experience culminated with a party at local hot spot Smith’s Point. 

Preva users could participate in these mini-challenges at home or the gym on their own Precor exercise equipment. 

It was part of a special 30-minute cardio workout exploring Grand Bahama Island’s rich culture, history, traditions and ecological treasures. 

At IDEAS, we wrote, shot and produced all the media content for the 30-minute workout pilot. We also handled the embedded programming to sync the media with Precor’s monitoring and fitness display metrics.

To put it simply, the results were nothing less than success. Peloton has since purchased Precor.
