Korala Adventure Park
IDEAS is often engaged at the very beginning of an idea to develop a concept and feasibility plan as a precursor to funding. Based in Norway, Park Adventures Group AS had been trying to develop a regional theme park for several years along the North shore of the Dominican Republic near the city of Puerto Plata. IDEAS to developed the initial conceptual and site plan along with research partner, Integrated Insight, who conducted a market analysis and demand study.
IDEAS developed an original IP portfolio for the park including a story universe of characters over a 1,000+ year historical fiction arc featuring a wayward clan of Vikings blown off course and now living among the indigenous Caribbean Taìno people. Korala, as the mystical village was known, became a place out of time and as its inhabitants remained true to their hybridized cultural ways.
The detailed conceptual master plan included attraction design, operations planning, live entertainment development, and a rich immersive architectural program supporting guest cosplay to join the story and live in the moment. The conceptual paczkage devolved to address multiple site optiopns with unique physical aspects– from coastal forest to a hillside ravine.
The second of an imagined 6 Korala parks was created for a unique sit in southern Norway, building on the story cannon through a companion clan saga that remained true to the Korala legend and immersive adventure park genre.
