Disasterville MOSI
Tampa, Florida
The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Tampa, FL received a grant from the National Science Foundation to build a new 9,000 sq.ft. exhibit called Disasterville to promote natural disaster science and emergency preparedness planning. They had enlisted the support and expertise of professors at the University of South Florida (USF) and from the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) and had outlined the learning objectives of the exhibit. What they didn’t have was a plan to engage and inspire their guests!
Using our StoryJam Experience design system, IDEAS developed a comprehensive guest experience story that articulated the entire exhibit experience and produced supporting pre-vis media elements including audioscapes, storyboards, and attractions concepts for the featured exhibit elements and a detailed action plan for MOSI’s internal schematic design phase along with a full sponsor development package.
Disasterville was developed around a unified vision of the design teams, employees, board members, and subject matter experts – a first-hand experience of natural disasters, an exploration of the science behind them, and immersion into the heroic world of emergency preparedness and first responders.
