AlabamaWorks!

Alabama Workforce Development, AL

Project Categories:

IDEAS partnered with the Alabama Office of Workforce Development and a consortium of Alabama’s passionate workforce, industry and education system representatives.

Our goal was to design and activate a new unified state workforce system brand — AlabamaWorks!

The scope of work was broad:

  • Delivering a unified brand across seven regional workforce agencies
  • Creating a culture of service excellence
  • Aligning with state workforce and education systems to better deliver the talent necessary to grow Alabama’s economy
  • Developing Career SUCCESS Guides to inspire high school students to pursue careers in line with industry needs
  • Delivering a host of web and communication tools within a brand activation strategy

Praise for AlabamaWorks!

“The AlabamaWorks Career SUCCESS Guides are invaluable resources designed specifically for Alabama students. Students who use them, along with practical recommendations from their parents, teachers, school counselors, and career coaches, will be better prepared for post-secondary learning opportunities after graduation—and a lifetime of future career success.”

—Sean Stevens, Career Coach Program Administrator for Counseling and Guidance

About CareerVerse

In spring 2022, we unveiled a new learning game for middle schoolers to guide them through their first thoughts about possible career paths.

The aim of the game is for students to discover what excites them. Then, it matches their passions with skill-set profiles that might apply to multiple careers.

CareerVerse takes 10- to 14-year-olds on a journey through different industries and possible career paths within them. Next, it offers information about where to gain specific insights and further educational opportunities.

The programs are custom to the different Alabama workforce regions they serve.

In a local pilot, several school districts partnered with Alabama workforce regions. The game went viral, with more than 13,000 students using it over just a two-week test.

Since then, most workforce regions and middle schools across Alabama have adopted CareerVerse as a standard.

CareerVerse has an easy-to-use back-end setup for teachers and administrators. They can view students’ progress, gather analytics and set up individual online classrooms to invite students to use the game. It’s quite comprehensive!

As an extension of IDEAS’ work with the Alabama Office of Workforce Development, we partnered with Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT) and Airbus.

Together, we created Flight Works Alabama — a visionary STEM learning and aviation brand immersion center.
