When Los Angeles based event producer FiveCurrents was brought on to produce the opening ceremonies for the 2017 World Science Forum in Jordan, they reached out to IDEAS to assist with the creative development and media production to take the important kickoff event to the next level with less than 4 months to accomplish it all.
IDEAS was tasked with the writing, global video production, creation of detailed CGI graphics, and onsite testing of media elements to fully leverage a massive 100ft wide projection screen system on stage with 9 layers of imagery and peripheral projection set pieces to instantly change the look of the room via the projection system. This included an originally created video sequence starting at the end of a live feed from astronauts aboard the International Space Station and pushing from space down to the conference center in Jordan during a live performance of John Lennon’s “Imagine” overlayed by U2’s “Beautiful Day” sung by famous regional artists. IDEAS produced a full slate of program interstitial content and meeting openers for the event’s massive projection screen.
IDEAS also produced a separate video at the request of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Deputy-Chair of the Jordanian Higher Council for Science and Technology. “Where Science Finds Peace” incorporated the stories of Jordanian students, scientists, and advocates for the advancement of science across the Middle East.
In addition to media production, IDEAS developed and oversaw the production of an artistic digital projection mapping performance on the main stage during the closing ceremonies. This required precise 3D modeling to determine projection parameters onto a custom 20ft diameter fabric screen flowing down from a dress worn by the vocalist center stage and out around her while CGI imagery was projected onto the circular splayed fabric. IDEAS’ onsite team ensured all last-minute adjustments were completed in time for the stunning closing that impressed the client and amazed the audience which included the Jordanian Royal Family and scientific dignitaries from around the world.
