IDEAS Opens New Post Audio Mix Room

By John Lux

IDEAS announced the opening of its new post production audio mix room today. The room was constructed at the IDEAS Studio in downtown Orlando. The mix stage is capable of mixing feature films, made-for-TV movies, corporate image pieces, and internet-based communications.

“In our previous facility we had wonderful audio spaces but the rooms were designed and built for the specifications of the 1980s, whereas this space was built with up to the minute design and technical specifications,” commented John Lux, President of IDEAS. “Audio A is an acoustically designed and built critical listening room that will allow us to continue the audio mix work we have done in the past for made-for-TV movies, miniseries, episodic television, and independent films, as well as the variety of special venue and corporate work we do.”

The post audio mix stage houses a 32 fader DigiDesign ICON integrated console, custom designed speakers and subwoofers from Bag End and Panasonic 1080p projector with a 12’ screen. The room was acoustically designed by Alactronics, Inc. from Wellesley, MA and then constructed by The Collage Companies of Orlando along with Southern Acoustics, All Electric of Orlando and F&S Cabinets.

“The IDEAS team has been doing great audio work for many years,” Jennifer Pennypacker, Director, Film and Digital Media Development of Film Florida said. “To have them make the type of investment that they have says a lot about their commitment to the post production business, the Central Florida community, and the Downtown Orlando Creative Village and reaffirms their place as a top destination for post production work in the Southeast region.”

The award-winning team at IDEAS, lead by Sr. Audio Mixer Rob Hill, has been involved with thirteen movies in recent years including the Emmy® Award Nominated and Golden Globe® Winning miniseries Elvis (CBS), four movies for Lifetime, four movies in the Roxy Hunter franchise for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Nickelodeon, and three independent films in addition to numerous other network and cable broadcast and corporate projects.

“In the last year the state of Florida has made great strides in offering tax credit incentives to production and digital media companies,” commented Shirley Decker, EVP, Business Development at IDEAS. “Between the new five year incentive package, the multitude of locations in Central Florida, and our brand new post production audio facility, there’s no doubt this is the location for film and television.”
