HUNTINGTON — Regional Education Service Agency II, which serves Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo and Wayne counties, has signed a contract with a Florida company to provide new teacher collaboration technology.
The company, eSchool Solutions, will provide its program called TeacherStudio (www.TeacherStudio.com). Its primary function is to connect teachers from across the region, anytime and anywhere, so they can share ideas, receive mentoring and stay updated on best global practices. RESA 2 started using TeacherStudio on Nov. 15.
The program’s goal falls in line with that of West Virginia’s Regional Educational Service Agencies — to initiate and implement programs in order to provide high quality, cost effective education services to students, schools, school systems and communities.
TeacherStudio offers a professional network of educators who want to collaborate and interact with each other on a much broader scale, not just within a school. It also provides multimedia professional development opportunities that include video and interactive connections.
“We selected TeacherStudio to support the work of our counties in the area of collaborative teaming,” said Dee Cockrille, the executive director of RESA II. “We are connecting teams of teachers to best practices. We are selecting cohorts of teachers to connect around the issues of mathematics, classroom management and best practices. Teachers can connect digitally to plan instruction, work on strategies to support struggling learners and discuss core subjects.”
