By John Lux
IDEAS will produce sixteen unique instructional video segments in English and in Spanish for the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County. Working with the COALITION, IDEAS will co-author, shoot, produce and execute all elements of post production of this highly impactful program. TeacherStudio® (www.TeacherStudio.com), created by IDEAS along with venture partner eSchool Solutions, will host and stream the web-based training modules.
“We are thrilled to add the COALITION members to the TeacherStudio community,” said Kelly Pounds, VP IDEAS Learning. “We designed and developed this web-based solution to provide educators nationwide a professional learning space to share best practices.”
In 1999, Florida law established the Early Learning Coalition to ensure children ages birth to five experienced the benefits of a developmentally appropriate, research based early education services while respecting the role of the parent as a child’s first teacher.
Among the programs offered by the COALITION is evaluating and improving program quality. The purpose of this project will be to develop tools that will assist teachers in improving the quality of their early childhood program.
IDEAS will provide teachers, directors, owners and key stakeholders of the Coalition’s early care and education network access to TeacherStudio® where they’ll be able to view the library of the instructional videos in both English and Spanish. Topics will focus on best practices in such areas as language modeling, transitioning, and quality classroom setup.
TeacherStudio® offers all members peer-mentoring, professional networking, a growing searchable content repository and professional development tools across multiple educational organizations. This solution allows cost-effective next-generation professional development resulting in retention of valued staff and improved classroom performance of its teachers. In August of 2010, TeacherStudio® was awarded a 2010 William C. Schwartz Industry Innovation Award, given annually to celebrate innovation.
“Our entire network is excited to be able to share the great things they are doing with children with other early care and education teachers across our County, State and Nation,” said Karen Willis, CEO of the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County.
