Dr. Phillips High School Visual and Performing Arts Magnet Program

By Bob Allen

This week we’re throwing the IDEAS story-makers into a great local project. The Dr. Phillips High School Visual and Performing Arts Magnet program has evolved over the last 25 years in to one of America’s best. The theater track has had great success, turning out Hollywood celebrities like Joey Fatone and Wayne Brady and students who have gone on to great carers on Broadway, in Opera and as designers and technicians all over the world.

This year, as part of a school-wide improvement project (part of what our half-penny sales tax does for education), DP is getting a brand new theater. It’s a great time to take stock of how to bring this amazing program into the community spotlight and we’re going to be lending a hand by doing a StoryJam around a new brand for the Annual Theater Gala event. Keep in touch. You’re going to want to come this April!
