International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight

By Bob Allen

Yesterday we spent all day at a remarkable event. It was the first day of the International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight (ISPCS). There is an exciting and hugely energetic emerging industry being built around private enterprise, no, that’s not quite right…wildly entrepreneurial individuals and companies betting the farm on a new rocket-plane (horizontal launch), rockets (vertical launch), and all of the possible propulsion, tracking, telemetry, and payloads. We’re here to investigate how we might partner with these companies to enhance the reality and engagement of the guest experience that our team is designing for Spaceport America.

It’s one of the most optimistic, positive, and exciting groups of people I’ve been around in years. This is literally the birth of a new industry and a new era of space as a regular part of our everyday lives. We go back today for another round.
