Film Florida Quarterly Meetings Welcome Reception
By John Lux
Film Florida is a not-for-profit organization that provides a leadership role in Florida’s film and entertainment industries by representing a coalition of interests, including private industry, local film commissions, industry associations, educational institutions and labor organizations. Its purpose is to offer to businesses and individuals the benefits of a statewide trade association to promote the creation of jobs in the film and entertainment production industries and to promote economic development and tourism.
This week, Film Florida is holding their quarterly meetings in Orlando and we had the opportunity to host their Welcome Reception last night. We hosted about 35 people, including local and out-of-town industry professionals. We host a number of gatherings in our building throughout the year and each one of them brings a different audience. This one brought more out-of-town guests than most of our functions. We took the opportunity to introduce ourselves to them, show them our facility, especially our acoustically designed, custom built post production audio mixing studio, edit suites and recording insert stage. Perhaps the highlight of the night was our Chief Storytelling Officer Bob Allen, giving a 30 minute speech on the importance of telling the Film Florida story. A lot of the people in attendance could be considered competition with one another to get business. But telling the right Film Florida story and getting people from all over the world to come to Florida is the first priority. TV and film is a competitive business world-wide, and helping Florida stay at the top of that list is a top priority for everyone so making sure everyone is telling the right story for Florida is paramount. Hopefully we helped all the participants of the quarterly meetings start their week on on the right foot.
