The CNL Square Network runs on proprietary software called “CoolSign Network”. The software provides network management over 12 vertically oriented plasmas controlled by 12 players. All screens for the CNL Square Network are animated graphic files. The animations consist of motion 2D and 3D graphics, still images, audio and video. Some screens are designed to play as self-contained messages with built-in text and audio. Others are templates with predetermined areas designed to display text or video overlays. All files were rendered as QuickTime movies and encoded as “muxed” MPEGs. Templates with text and or video overlays were provided with separate still images to serve as style guides for the overlay media.
