Florida Attractions Association Speech
Posted by Bob Allen on May 27th, 2011 at 7:52 amYesterday I was fortunate to give the keynote speech for the annual meeting of the Florida Attractions Association. It was a tremendous audience and one that felt like home for me since I pretty much grew up in the attractions business. My talk wascalled “Zennovation: The Power of The Net Present Moment.” The speech focused on challenging your imagination to new levels of creativity. For about 45 minutes, I was able to tell stories that illustrate 11 principals of sustaining innovation from the doctrine of “Wild Acceptance” to the principle of “Innovative Courage”. After the speech I received very positive feedback on the talk. More importantly, the other speakers were all making points that pitched our Experience Design method and solutions as what is NEXT in the industry. It’s nice to have a speech well received. But it’s even better to have the other presenters verify the principals of how we do a large part of our business.
Indeed, Bob, your presentation at the 2011 FAA Annual Conference was well received – enlightening and inspiring to all present. In fact, the intrigue in the room was palpable. Working with FAA for 3 years now and getting to know its members (mostly executives of attractions in Florida), I was overwhelmed with excitement to witness true inspiration in the eyes of the leaders of this huge industry.
As someone who has been in attractions and tourism for most of his life as you have, the principles you delivered are likely well ingrained in your core. But I want you to know that after the mere 45 minutes you stood there, discussion of the wisdom you imparted made its way into almost every conversation by all for the rest of the conference, and the word continues to be spread to this day.
And as someone who aspires to one day own my own attraction destination, I hope you and your associates continue to motivate, stimulate, and Zennovate tourism in Florida for ages to come.
