It only takes a quick glance at our social media pages to see what a fun and creative place IDEAS is to work! Honestly, it’s one of the most common things my friends say to me about working at IDEAS…it just looks fun…because it intentionally is fun. See, the work we do at IDEAS has a lot of creative energy that needs to flow into it, and a good way to keep this energy up, is to make a more pleasant work environment. (Actually all work environments should aim to do this, but it’s especially important for creative types in my opinion.)
This means having fun events that we all can participate in (usually involving food…because you gotta have food). Not only is this enjoyable, but it adds to getting to know our co-workers better, which really makes better working relationships. All the fun things we do at IDEAS really are us striving to have happier workers. In fact, a group of U.K. researchers say they’ve provided the first scientifically-controlled evidence of the link between human happiness and productivity: Happier people are about 12% more productive. So let me do the math for you:
More fun in the work place = happier workers = more productivity = Ka-pow Morale!
Personally, I enjoy bringing laughter and joy wherever I go. I love the Mark Twain quote, “The human race has one really effective weapon and that is laughter.” This is the reason that whenever I have to send company-wide emails, I usually include some silly picture, in effort to brighten my lovely co-worker’s days…sure it may be dumb, but it’s a simple, easy way to brighten morale for that day. In the spirit of my emails, I leave you with this: Ka-pow Morale!
